Smart Girls Save Money

If you receive my Juicy Gossip monthly newsletter, you will remember my favorite find for the month!  And seriously…this jacket has the perfect amount of edge.  LOVE it!

So I was giddy with excitement, when I was walking through Macy’s and saw a similar jacket for…oh, I don’t know…$100 MORE!

Remember, there is no need to spend a ton of money on trendy clothes!

So here is the Forever 21 jacket for only $59.95:

And here is the version I saw at Macy’s for $158:

And to be honest, I like the collar on the Forever 21 jacket better!  And THAT girls, is what we call saving money!!

Who doesn’t want to be walking around with an extra $100 in their wallet?!

Today’s lesson::  Don’t spend a ton of money on trendy clothes!  Spend your extra money on classic pieces that never go out of style.

Leap List Shenanigans

My interns are starting to check things off their Leap Lists!!  I thought I’d share a few with you!  Taylor (on the right), had a little Leap List party over her holiday break with her bestie.  A Leap List party can be a fun way to brainstorm all the fun things you’d like to do with your friends and compile your list!  And no, it doesn’t take a ton of effort; honestly, it’s just an excuse to get together with your friends!  Meet up at Starbucks or Jamba Juice!  You could even make it an excuse for a sleepover!  Below is a photo of the girls when they made their list of all the fun things they want to do together before graduation.

At the top of their list, a Maroon 5 concert…I can’t blame you girls! 😉  And I can tell you from experience, zip lining is EXHILARATING!  I loved every minute of it!  Make sure you try the dead turtle…this means no holding on with your hands and you lean back and upside down.  It was pretty much my version of living on the edge! 😉  I can’t wait to see your pictures from these!

And then we have Kathrine (on the right)…part of her Leap List was to host a Christmas dinner for her friends!  I think this is so cool!  Check you out, Kathrine…getting all fancy on us!

Katherine also decided to live on the edge a bit.  On her list…swim in the Texas A&M campus fish pond!  Oh boy…here we go!  Here is Kathrine…IN.THE.POND!  Hilarious!!!

I’m not going to lie…I was looking in the background of the photo for campus security running towards you!

How are your leap lists coming along?!  Checking things off?!  Make sure you email me ( or message me on Facebook as you check things off and be sure to send a photo!!  I’d love to feature you on the blog!  There is a fun gift up for grabs for one lucky participant!  And if you’re not participating yet, SIGN UP NOW! xo

Stay Fearless,

YOLO:: 50 Things You Can Do With Your Friends!

The weekend is just around the corner!  Sometimes it’s fun to change things up with your friends and do something new!  I’ve compiled a fun list of things you can do with your friends that will give a fun twist to those regular old weekends!

50 Things to Do With Your Besties:

  • Paint your faces and head to the football game
  • Cosmic Bowling
  • Glow-in-the-Dark miniature golfing at the American Tin Cannery Outlets
  • Pedicures
  • Shopping trip…and everyone limits themselves to $25 each; see who scores the best outfit!
  • Paddleboarding
  • Go to the driving range and try to make contact with some golf balls…this can be funnier than you’d think!
  • Sleepover!
  • Picnic on the beach…watch out for seagulls.
  • Ride bikes into Pebble Beach…and for those of you that don’t live in Pebble, there is no gate fee if you ride your bikes in!
  • Do your own photo shoot with your friends
  • Create henna tattoos
  • MYO or Pinkberry outing
  • Make your own pizzas
  • Day trip to the Winchester House…see who freaks out the most around ghosts!
  • Spa night…fluffy slippers, robes, face masks, cucumber slices for the eyes, and your favorite romantic comedy DVD.
  • Paint you own pottery (10th Street Ceramics in PG)
  • Volunteer one day at the SPCA with the cute and cuddly kitties and doggies…you might as well check off those community service hours with your friends!
  • Board game night…everyone brings their favorite board game from childhood to play.
  • Make friendship bracelets
  • Host a progressive dinner…each friend hosts a part of the meal (appetizers at one house, dinner at another, and dessert at the final house).
  • Roller Skating…to make it extra fun, dress crazy!
  • Just Dance, dance-off
  • Band Hero night…dress as your favorite rock star and rock out all night playing your favorite tunes on Band Hero

  • Bon-fire in Carmel at the beach
  • Scrapbook night
  • Movie marathon…see 2-3 movies back-to-back at the theater!

  • Go Glamping…set up a tent in your friend’s backyard.  You can tell ghost stories and have fun in your own tent, yet have the luxuries of running in to use the bathroom when nature calls or when you need to pop some popcorn!  And if it’s too cold, make a tent with sheets in your friend’s room…come on, we all did it as little kids and it was SO MUCH FUN!
  • Pool day…During the winter, you can go to the Monterey Sports Center, they even have a slide.  Or in the summer, head out to where it’s really warm and go to Carmel Valley!
  • Closet Trade…Everyone brings 5 items they would like to get rid of from their closet.  Randomly draw numbers and start selecting from your friend’s piles!  Everyone goes home with 5 new pieces!  You can include jewelry, pursues, scarves, etc.
  • Go out to a fancy lunch…lunch is always cheaper than dinner anyways, so pick your favorite restaurant!
  • Bake your favorite cookies
  • Pull an all-nighter watching your favorite chick-flicks…there better be at least one Ryan Gosling movie in there.
  • Take guitar lessons together
  • Go on a Hiking Yoga Adventure by Michael Simpson
  • Take an art class together
  • Make your own music video…OMG, so much fun.  Not to mention, you may become a YouTube sensation!
  • Start a Bestie’s Teen Style Blog…or whatever your group interest is.
  • Target night!  Go to Target and raid the $1 bins and get some cool things to craft that night…and let’s face it, it’s just fun to roam Target!
  • Drive-in Movie
  • Rent Segways in the Monterey Cannery area and take them all along the boardwalk, up-and-down the coast!
  • Find a charity you can donate care packages to and organize some care packages with your friends for those less fortunate.
  • Boogie Boarding…just don’t forget the wetsuits, the water is freezing year-round here!
  • Make your own sundae night
  • Sign up for a 5K race with your friends!  We are lucky enough to have the Big Sur Marathon peeps hosting events all the time.
  • Go sailing.  There are sailing lessons going on all the time out of Monterey!

Just remember…be fearless, YOLO!
