Summer Family Bucket List {Monterey Bay Summer}

What a summer we have had…honestly, it has been incredibly relaxing. Despite a move into our new home in Pacific Grove, we have found many ways to have a laid back summer. I have enjoyed a little down time with the girls. We’ve had fun with swim lessons, tennis camp, spending time at the Monterey Bay Aquarium (their new Open Sea exhibit is UNREAL), redecorating parts of the house, enjoying family that has come up to visit, and enjoying daddy while he had a month off of work! Such a blessing!

A good portion of our way into summer, we got a great idea…courtesy of the Happy Family Movement. I adore Jenny and Josh and everything they have started with the Happy Family Movement. It’s everything my heart stands for. I want to make my kiddo’s childhood an amazing memory for them. I can’t tell you how many times people told me right after we had our first child, “Just enjoy this time because it will be gone before you know it.” And I have to say, I let that saying roll off my shoulders more than I wish I had. Honestly, I’d think to myself, “well, we’ve still got time! We’ve got a good 10 years!” NO…YOU DON’T! It hit me as I was crying the night before my youngest started Kindergarten…it’s over. OVER. That time I had with the kids at home…GONE.  I completely underestimated it. Honestly, it ends when they go to school. Yes, they are still young, but we have entered a new chapter in our lives.   Once they hit Kindergarten, they are with a teacher more than they are with me each day.  This alone makes me a bit sad.   And they come home asking who Justin Beiber is…seriously?! Are we having this conversation?!

Sorry for the digression, but it comes back to my point of having a WHOLE SUMMER of my kids to MYSELF! So.much.fun.  And then I saw what the Happy Family Movement started with their Family Summer Bucket List. What a cool idea!  I wish we had started this list earlier in the summer.  I have a feeling we will have to work a bit into September to cross everything off the list, but they are more than excited to complete our list. I think our youngest is most excited for cooking smores and our oldest is most excited about the Santa Cruz Boardwalk (thank you to all the ads on TV).  So here are some pics of our girls starting to make their summer bucket list…and THANK YOU Josh and Jenny for the fabulous idea.  If you’d like to join the Happy Family Movement and make a summer bucket list of your own, it’s not too late!  Go sign up now!  Josh and Jenny are wonderful at sending tips to get you started…it might just be your best summer yet! 😉

This had to be our youngest coming up with the idea to watch Rio for Family Movie Night…her life revolves around Macaw birds since that movie came out!

I’m hoping we can do the whale watching for my birthday next month…I’m dying to see a blue whale in person!  And I’m not going to lie…I’m excited for the picnic in front of the Full House home!

Happy Summer Fun~
